1987–1990s

Trump and Epstein become social acquaintances

Both were prominent New York socialites. They attended overlapping social events and parties. Trump's own 2002 quote says he had known Epstein for 15 years by that point.

1993–1996

At least 8 listed flights on Epstein's private jet

A January 7, 2020 assistant U.S. attorney email, released in the DOJ files, says Trump is listed on at least eight flights in this period — “many more times than previously has been reported.” At least four of those also list Ghislaine Maxwell. At various times the email lists Marla Maples, his daughter Tiffany, and his son Eric among the co-passengers. One 1993 flight lists only Trump and Epstein; another lists them with a redacted 20-year-old. BBC Verify reported a separate handwritten entry dated August 13, 1995, Palm Beach to Teterboro, listing Donald Trump and Eric with the initials JE and GM. A listing is not itself a finding of wrongdoing.

Early 1990s

Virginia Giuffre recruited from Mar-a-Lago

Virginia Giuffre, who later became a central victim in the Epstein trafficking case, testified that she was recruited into Epstein's network from Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach.

1994

Jane Doe alleges rape by Trump and Epstein

A woman (later identified in FBI records) alleges she was raped by both Trump and Epstein at a party in New York City when she was 13 years old. The FBI interviewed her 4 times.

2002

Trump publicly praises Epstein in New York Magazine

Direct Quote

Trump tells the magazine: "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

2003

Sexually suggestive birthday note from Trump to Epstein

A birthday note from Trump to Epstein, released in the 2025–2026 DOJ document releases, contained sexually suggestive content.

2011

Epstein email to Maxwell references Trump and a victim

Direct Quote

In a 2011 email to Ghislaine Maxwell released in the DOJ documents, Epstein wrote: "That dog that hasn't barked is trump... [VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him."

Trump reportedly bans Epstein from Mar-a-Lago

Disputed

Trump has claimed he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after Epstein allegedly assaulted a member's daughter. This claim is disputed — there is no documentation of a formal ban, and the ban claim emerged publicly only after Epstein's 2008 conviction.

2020

"I wish her well" — Trump on Maxwell's arrest

Direct Quote

When Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges, Trump said at a White House press briefing: "I wish her well."

On disputed claims:The Mar-a-Lago ban claim is noted as "Disputed" because no contemporaneous documentation of the ban has been released, and the claim emerged publicly only after Epstein's 2008 guilty plea. This site distinguishes between documented facts and contested claims.
