A January 7, 2020 email from an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, released in the Justice Department's Epstein files, says Donald Trump is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights on Jeffrey Epstein's private jet between 1993 and 1996 — "many more times than previously has been reported."

What that email says
PBS reported that the email discussed flight records the office received on January 6, 2020, and that the prosecutor flagged the Trump listings because lawyers “didn't want any of this to be a surprise down the road.”
At least eight flights, 1993–1996
The email says Trump “is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996.” It does not itemize every date. This page does not add dates the email does not give.
Ghislaine Maxwell on at least four
Those eight include “at least four flights on which Maxwell was also present,” in the email’s words as quoted by BBC Verify. PBS reported the same count.
Other listed co-passengers, at various times
The email says he is listed as having traveled with, “among others and at various times, Marla Maples, his daughter Tiffany, and his son Eric.” That is not a claim that all three were on every flight.
One 1993 flight: Trump and Epstein only
“On one flight in 1993, he and Epstein are the only two listed passengers.” BBC and PBS both report that sentence.
Another flight: Trump, Epstein, and a redacted 20-year-old
On a different flight, “the only three passengers are Epstein, Trump, and then-20-year-old…” — the name is redacted. PBS described the third person as a redacted individual who was 20 at the time. This is not the two-passenger flight above.
Two other flights, in the email’s words
The email says that on two other flights, passengers included women “who would be possible witnesses in a Maxwell case.” It does not name them in the published reporting.
The same email says Trump flew on the jet "including during the period we would expect to charge in a Maxwell case." That is the prosecutor's description of the time period under review. It is not a charge against Trump. Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted of sex-trafficking offenses the Justice Department said she committed from at least 1994 through about 2004.

One handwritten log entry
BBC Verify reported this entry from a handwritten log released by the DOJ. The prosecutor email does not itself list this date.
BBC reported that one handwritten entry lists Donald Trump and his son Eric on a flight from PBI (Palm Beach International Airport) to TEB (Teterboro Airport, New Jersey). The entry also lists the initials JE and GM, which BBC described as widely believed to stand for Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. BBC noted that many entries in that log are difficult to read.
BBC Verify, December 23, 2025What a listing does not show: BBC Verify stated that Trump's name on a flight record does not indicate wrongdoing. These pages record who is listed. They are not a finding that a crime occurred on any flight.
BBC also reported that in 2024 Trump wrote, "I was never on Epstein's Plane," and that he has denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. The Justice Department has said some documents in the releases contain "untrue and sensationalist claims" against him. That statement is about allegations in the files, not a line-by-line authentication of the flight email.
